Child allowance and birth allowance

Child allowance

This system provides a cash allowance to persons with dependent children in order to provide a secure family environment for healthy child development.

■Recipients

Persons with dependent children who have not finished elementary school (until March 31 after the child turns 12 years of age). However, persons whose income in the previous year is greater than a certain determined amount can not receive child allowance.

■Payment period

Until March 31 after the child turns 12 years of age.

■Payment amount (per month)

Children under 3 years of age---10,000 yen

Children 3 years of age or older

   First child –5,000 yen

   Second child –5,000 yen

   Third child and all subsequent children –10,000 yen for each child

■Signing up

The parent must submit a Children’s Allowance Approval Form and other necessary documents at the Childcare Support department in the town office.

 

Birth celebration allowance

This system provides a cash allowance to persons who gave birth to a third child or any subsequent children as a token of celebration.

■Recipients

 The recipient is the father or mother who nurtures the third or any subsequent child. The person also should fulfill all the following conditions.

 (1)The recipient should have been on the basic register of the town or the basic foreign resident register for more than one year continuously prior to the birth of the child.

 (2)Neither the father nor the mother has failed to pay the town tax, national health insurance tax, and nursing expense.

■Payment amount

 200,000 yen for each child

 Inquire at the Childcare Support Section as there are other conditions for application and application period.
